The organisation Teenagers against Drug Abuse (TADA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Cala Public Library, bringing together various sector departments, partners, and stakeholders to reflect on the organisation’s progress and challenges.

During the meeting, TADA outlined its background and ongoing efforts to fight substance abuse among young people in the area.

Representatives from partnering organisations and the local municipality also delivered messages of support, commending the NPO’s continued dedication to youth development and community awareness despite limited resources. The organisation highlighted significant financial challenges affecting its operations.

According to the treasurer Miss Lindiwe Ndlela, TADA remains operational through the support of the Department of Social Development and some assistance from the local municipality. However, the organisation still faces constraints that limit its ability to expand its programmes and reach more young people.

TADA further noted that the lack of office space not only affects its daily operations but also results in missed opportunities. The organisation expressed that having a dedicated office would enable it to establish a youth center a safe space where young people could engage in constructive activities and stay away from drugs and crime.

The meeting concluded with a renewed call for collaboration between government departments, civil society, and private stakeholders to bolster the fight against drug abuse and create safer, healthier environments for young people in the Sakhisizwe community.
