The event was officially opened by the Chairperson of the ANC in the Chris Hani Region, Lusanda Sizani, who encouraged young people to stay focused through sports.

“When youth participate in sport, they can avoid negative influences,” said Sizani. “We know young people face many challenges, and we are doing our best to help them. We encourage them to stay away from drugs and concentrate on their education.”

The three winning teams in both soccer and netball categories walked away with monetary prizes. Aviwe Lusithi, a member of one of the winning teams, expressed gratitude to the foundation for the support.

“These games help us a lot because they keep us focused and away from negative thoughts,” said Lusithi. “We thank Mr. Sizani because the money we receive helps us buy things we cannot afford, as many of us come from child headed families. The kits also help us look good and fit in when we play in other areas.”

In the soccer category, Amazon FC and Namapantsula FC emerged victorious, while Thunders and New Age claimed top honors in the netball competition.
