Emotions ran high outside the Cala Magistrate’s Court today as residents from Ndum Ndum in Manzimahle and Seplan gathered to demand justice in two separate murder cases that have shaken their communities.
On Tuesday the suspect appeared in court facing four charges, including murder, attempted murder, possession of an illegal firearm, and possession of illegal ammunition. He is accused of killing Momelezi Ncanywa in February this year. The court denied him bail, and his case has been postponed to November 26 for further proceedings at the Cala Regional Court.

Community members held placards outside the courthouse, calling for a life sentence for Sirhalile. Noluyolo Ncanywa, the sister of the deceased, said the family is encouraged by the progress of the case. “We are happy because we can see that the case is moving forward, and we have faith that justice will be served,” she said.
In a separate case heard at the same court, another suspect appeared in connection with the murder of Rita Renqe, which occurred in August this year. His case was postponed to November 13 to allow police to continue their investigation.
Zamikhaya Bande, a resident of Seplan, said the community would not rest until justice is served for Rita. “As the community of Seplan, we will keep going to court until Rita gets her justice. We stand with her family during this difficult time,” Bande said.
Both communities have vowed to continue supporting the victims’ families and attending court proceedings until justice is delivered.
