It was a day filled with mixed emotions in Molteno, under the Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality, as Station Commander Lt. Col HL Winnaar was bid farewell by her colleagues and the community following her promotion to another police station.
The farewell event was held at the Central Hotel in Molteno, where senior officials, colleagues, and community members gathered to express their appreciation for her service.

Winnaar said she arrived in Molteno in 2023 at a time when crime levels were high and the community faced several challenges. She explained that her first year and a half was particularly difficult as she worked to meet the needs of the community and build stronger relationships between the police and residents.
Despite the challenges, she remained committed to developing community policing strategies, which helped strengthen cooperation between the police and the community.
“It was not easy, but I was determined to make a difference,” said Winnaar.
Her colleagues described her as a dedicated leader with a strong passion for both her work and the community, noting her resilience and professionalism even under difficult circumstances.
Winnaar expressed her gratitude to everyone she worked with, including senior management, colleagues, and the Molteno community, saying their support helped her overcome many challenges.
As she leaves Molteno, she said she carries with her many memories and valuable lessons, and remains committed to continuing her work with dedication at her new station.
