The South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) in Ngcobo held a special ceremony to honor outstanding teachers and bid farewell to two long-serving leaders who have retired after years of dedicated service.

Principal Lwazi Mditshwa and Miss Bulelwa Lande, who both served in leadership roles within SADTU, were recognised for their commitment and contributions to the growth and development of the organization in Ngcobo.

Speaking at the event, SADTU Ngcobo Secretary Ndumiso Mbaxa expressed gratitude to educators for their unwavering dedication to their profession. “We must always show appreciation to those who work selflessly in teaching and shaping our children’s futures,” Mbaxa said.

“Let us continue to improve the standard of education. To those who are retiring, may they go and rest knowing their contribution will never be forgotten. They have left an unforgettable legacy, and we truly appreciate their efforts.”

Teachers from various schools across the district were also recognised for their exceptional performance in the classroom. Amongst them was Thulani Mphompolwana from Sthoza School, who expressed his joy when receiving the award.

“Teaching children is not easy, but when you get to know them, the job becomes more enjoyable, I am grateful for this recognition.” said Mphompolwana

Principal Mditshwa and Miss Lande both thanked SADTU for acknowledging their work and dedication over the years, saying they were proud to have served the organisation and the education community in Ngcobo. The event ended on a high note, with teachers encouraged to continue working together to uplift the standard of education in the region.
