The rollout of healthcare services on board the Phelophepa Health Care Train in Komani has been delayed, leaving many residents frustrated after eagerly anticipating its arrival.

Dr Thabiso Manamela issued an apology to the community, explaining that the train could not begin operations due to disruptions caused by construction work near the railway station. He said this made it impossible to position the train at the designated site.

Manamela assured residents that efforts are underway to resolve the issue, adding that preparations are expected to begin on Thursday once the train has been properly stationed.

Meanwhile, a Komani resident expressed concern over the conditions faced by those waiting for services, saying they have spent several days at the site. With ongoing rainfall, they have no shelter and have run out of food.

In response, Dignity Tombstones stepped in to assist. Speaking on behalf of the organisation, Lubabalo Nontsele said they decided to support affected residents by providing food during the delay.

Nontsele emphasised the importance of local businesses supporting communities in times of need, noting that their intervention aims to ease the burden on those affected.
