Democratic Alliance (DA) Eastern Cape Provincial Legislator member Heinrich Muller has visited the Nxuba Police Station and the former Michausdal Sports Stadium following growing safety concerns in the area.
The visit follows the discovery of a body at the abandoned stadium last week, which has heightened community fears and drawn attention to ongoing issues of crime and neglect.
Muller met with police officials to discuss the challenges facing the area, emphasizing that urgent intervention is needed to address both safety and infrastructure problems. He criticized the poor state of the stadium, attributing it to negligence by those responsible, and called for the facility to be rebuilt and restored for community use.
The legislator also pledged to work with local DA councilors to identify practical solutions and said he would escalate the matter to the provincial level, seeking support from the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and the Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture.
